Backpackers in Paradise is located (like a couple of other backpacker places) on Peninsular Drive, so it’s a short walk to get to the beach, go to the shops or sample the nightlife.
You can choose from dorm rooms that sleep from four people up to 20 people (if you think that may be an issue, best check to see whats available before turning up), a girls-only dorm (four beds), double/twin rooms with shared bathrooms and furnished apartments with private bathrooms.
The accommodation is clean and well maintained. The prices are very competitive for the Gold Coast, and you can get a discount with a YHA or VIP membership card.
Facilities are pretty decent: there is a swimming pool and spa, BBQ area, kitchen, laundry, pool tables, a bar (with a popular happy-hour), a Courtyard Cafe and you can watch free movies in the cinema room – which boasts a 150 inch screen.
Linen is free and so are the lockers which are in the rooms. There is a free pick-up service from the transit centre if you need it, but it’s only a short walk.
The place has a good atmosphere and it’s a good place for meeting other travellers. It’s safe to say you could consider this a party hostel. Staff seem pretty chilled and friendly.
If you are planning on experiencing the famous Surfers Paradise nightlife, Backpackers in Paradise organize nights out seven days a week and will arrange free entry and even free drinks for you.
It’s a good option, especially if you are planning to party. The accommodation is good, as is the location, and it’s very reasonably priced. Just be aware that a couple of the dorms are quite large (8, 14 and 20 beds).
