It seems slightly surreal to some of us older members of the Ultimate Gold Coast team, but Black Flag will be playing at the Coolangatta Hotel this Friday November 15th.
Formed way back in 1976, the hugely influential California-based Black Flag were one of the first ever hardcore punk bands. Known for their anti-authority stance and uncompromising sound, they developed a massive following.
Although the lineup has changed over the years, founding member Greg Ginn has always been a constant and vocalist Ron Reyes rejoins the band for this tour. Note that Henry Rollins is NOT a part of the line-up.
This is part of the Hits and Pits 2.0 Festival/Tour, meaning not only do you get to see the legendary Black Flag, you also get to see the following bands on the same night.
Boysetsfire: another hardcore act, originating from Newark, Delaware. They released a new album “While a Nation Sleeps…” earlier this year.
Bad Astronaut: an American punk rock/indie band known for their album “Houston: We Have a Drinking Problem”.
The Ataris: another American punk band with a sound that is less hardcore and more pop.
Snuff: this band hail from the UK and were a favourite of influential BBC radio DJ John Peel.
No Fun at All: a Swedish punk band you may already know, who have been around in one form or another on-and-off since the early 90s.
Also on the bill are Jughead’s Revenge, Off with Their Heads and Good for You.
Tickets are available in advance from Oztix for $90.80 including booking fee and doors open at 6pm for this one.
The Coolangatta Hotel is located on the corner of Warner Street & Marine Parade. Telephone (07) 5589 6888
