Bread n Butter (as it is known locally) is a converted Queenslander overlooking Kirra Beach. It’s a casual, lively place with an emphasis on food, drink, music and art. There is an upstairs and downstairs which offer quite different dining experiences.
Food and Drink
The menu is divided between tapas and wood-fired pizza made in an authentic Italian style. The tapas is always made from scratch and there are more than a dozen to choose from, including the traditional Spanish Patatas Bravas, Bruschetta and seafood dishes. Over half of these are suitable for vegetarian diners.
There is a selection of around 15 different pizzas available, ranging from the familiar like four-cheese and meat-lovers to the more gourmet-type options. As mentioned, they are made in the traditional Italian fashion so toppings may be slightly lighter than you are used to: this is as they should be.
There are a few salads on the menu too, as well as a small selection of desserts. To give an indication of price, pizzas are in the $20 to $25 range although on Wednesdays all pizzas are just $14: bargain! You can check current pricing by viewing the online menu via the link below.
There is a well-stocked bar upstairs and downstairs is BYO.
The atmosphere is informal and relaxed. The upstairs area has more of a lounge type feel and features DJs and live music. It can get very busy and has a dance area. It can get loud but it makes for a great night out.
If you would prefer something a little quieter, you may like the restaurant downstairs a bit more. It’s certainly the better option for slightly older diners or those with children.
The venue supports local artists by displaying their works which is a nice touch, visually.
It’s a great option for casual dining: the food is good, the surroundings very attractive and music adds to the atmosphere – it’s popular with locals and is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
