Burleigh Heads

The Gold Coast's Burleigh Heads is a good place to stay if you want to avoid the noise of Surfers Paradise

Another part of the Gold Coast that is popular with all ages – especially families travelling with children, Burleigh Heads is known more for it’s beautiful scenery than for a lively nightlife.

The beach is fantastic, and with lifeguards on duty all year it’s popular with swimmers as well as with surfers. And while the beach is popular, it’s far less busy than those to the north.

There are all the shops you are likely to need during your stay, and of course plenty of options for dining out: James Street and Connor Street are full of great places to try. Burleigh Heads’ relaxing atmosphere is one of it’s major charms, so if you are looking for a peaceful getaway in spectacular surroundings it should definitely be on your shortlist of places to stay.

The National Park is another major draw and provides fantastic views. Burleigh Headland is perfectly situated for whale watching too, the best time being generally between the months of May to November. You can also wander along the coast on the footpath, or maybe enjoy a picnic in the peace and quiet the parkland provides.

On the first and third Sunday of each month you can visit the Burleigh Art and Craft markets at the Esplanade, it’s a fun place to spend an hour or so.

For a day trip (or a half day) the kids will love seeing all the animals at the David Fleay Wildlife Park in West Burleigh.
