Situated in a prime location right next to the NSW border, Cafe Dbar offers perfect coffee, great food and some truly amazing views.
It’s really much more of a restaurant than a cafe, and it also has an art gallery in the heritage listed Queenslander at the back.
The Asian-influenced menu offers a good range of dishes that means you’re sure to find something just right. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, and at the weekend tapas shared plates are also available from late afternoon.
The presentation of the food is very good, and while it is not cheap the quality is high and the serves tend towards being fairly generous.
Aside from the coffee and smoothies on offer, there is also a licensed bar with a modest selection of wine, beer and some very tempting cocktails.
There are five dining areas to choose from: our favourite is the “chill-out lounge” upstairs, although downstairs is very pleasant too.
The views – including those over Duranbah Beach, from which the cafe gets it’s name – are absolutely stunning.
At the weekend the cafe features live music from local singers/musicians, which adds to the already enjoyable atmosphere. Nothing too heavy: acoustic, chilled – just right for the venue.
The gallery is well worth a visit too. It has work from local and regional artists, with exhibitions changing on a monthly basis. There is also a selection of handicrafts, jewellery, clothing and home-wares.
