Get on down to Currumbin Waters tonight to support a great cause, and to have great night out too. Gold Coast not-for-profit organisation SAND (Surfers Against Natures Destruction) have put together a fundraiser for Allan Byrne (AB), with proceeds from the event going to the Byrne Family Fund.
For those who didn’t know, Allan Byrne was (and is) a legend in the surfing world, famous for his talent for surfboard design. Sadly, he passed away recently after a motorcycle accident in Bali, and returning his body to Australia proved expensive for his family as he was uninsured (due to illness). Hence this fundraiser.
Currumbin Creek Tavern is hosting the event, with music legends Tumbleweed headlining the show and Money For Rope, The Vernons, New Jack Rubys and The Sea Shall Not Have Them all in support.
There are some amazing prizes to be won too. These include a $3000 value Mentawai surf boat trip, an original Byrning Spears surfboard shaped by AB himself valued at $2000, a RipCurl watch and wetsuit, Barz Optics sunglasses and LOTS more.
There are only 400 tickets available for this, and you can get them from Byrning Spears Factory Currumbin, Hot Stuff Burleigh, Meridian World Travel Burleigh, World Surfaris (Kirra Surf) Kirra and online from oztix for $50 plus booking fee.
Doors open at 6pm. You can find out more about Allan Byrne and the Festival for AB here.
Currumbin Creek Tavern is located at 3 Traders Way, Currumbin Waters: telephone (07) 5534 2322.
