Since opening it’s doors in 2007, Fiddler’s Green Irish Bar and Restaurant has become one of the best places in town for good value pub food, and of course a cold drink or two.
It’s Irish owners mean the place seems a little more authentic than some of the Irish bars you may have visited, and the place certainly has a good, friendly atmosphere.
There are pool tables, the obligatory flat screen televisions, and in the evenings there is live music.
The meals are what really sets Fiddler’s Green apart. While too many places on the Gold Coast (and in Surfers Paradise in particular) charge a high price for what can be mediocre food, this place serves great food at very reasonable prices.
There are a variety of specials throughout the week like the $10 Sunday Roast, $14.50 steaks on Tuesdays and there are “kids eat free” deals too. Hard to beat, really.
The menu itself is quite extensive, with the usual favourites like steaks, burgers, seafood and parmigiana, plus a “Taste of Home” section with dishes like Irish Stew and Shepard’s Pie. There are a few options for vegetarians too.
Despite being cheaper than many other places in town, the quality of the food is actually very good, and the serves are certainly not skimpy.
There is a reasonable wine list plus of course Irish ales: Guinness is on tap, naturally. If you prefer local beers, there are plenty on hand.
Fiddler’s Green Irish Bar is located at 30 Cavill Avenue in Surfers Paradise. Telephone (07) 5538 9122
