Since opening in early 2013, Helm Bar & Bistro has gone on to establish itself as one of the most popular venues in Surfers Paradise. It has already earned a QHA (Queensland Hotels Association) Award for “Best Casual Dining” and has become a favourite with locals and visitors alike.
It has a nice location overlooking the Nerang River and while it is conveniently situated, it’s also pleasantly away from the worst of the hustle and bustle. If you have been to Surfers Paradise before you may have visited the venue when it was Titanium Bar: since then it has undergone a significant renovation and is now very different.
Food and Drink
Considering the location and quality of the food, the meals are very reasonably priced indeed. While seafood is heavily featured, there are plenty of other options including pizza, burgers, steak and BBQ ribs.
Vegetarians don’t have an awful lot to choose from, but some of the pizzas, salads and starters should suffice.
There are also specials throughout the week which make the meals even better value: you can view the current menu, specials and prices by following the link below.
There is a decent selection of local and international beer, a mainly Australian wine list, plus cocktails and spirits all served in a very cosy bar area.
The theme is nautical, and it has a very bright and contemporary look and feel. It’s nicely fitted out and has a relaxed atmosphere – with the exception of the gaming room, but that’s easily avoided.
There is live music at the weekend: usually of the acoustic singer/duo type so it doesn’t overwhelm. Helm caters to a mixed crowd of all ages and is very family-friendly.
