For couples seeking the ultimate in romantic retreats, Kallora Escape Bed & Breakfast (also known as Kallora Country Retreat) may be exactly what you are looking for.
Situated up in the Gold Coast Hinterland, near the New South Wales border, looking out over the Currumbin Valley, it’s the perfect place for a peaceful break.
With only three, individually-themed guest rooms available, you can escape the rat-race for a few days and enjoy some privacy in a beautiful rainforest location.
It would be fair to say that this is a boutique style Bed & Breakfast. The rooms each have a style of their own. The Jade and Aztec rooms have an ensuite, while the Heritage Room has a full bathroom complete with claw-foot bath. All have a king size bed, private balcony, bar fridge, microwave and coffee/tea making equipment.
A Continental Breakfast is included, and you can upgrade to a Full Breakfast if you prefer. Dinner can also be arranged.
Set on 16 acres of subtropical bush high up in the Hinterland, Kallora Escape’s location is absolutely stunning. There is a guest lounge with a wood fire, television and music system.
There is a sheltered, outdoor cabana area with dining settings and barbeque facilities. There is also a heated spa. You can walk through the rainforest paths to the viewing platform for a stunning look out over the valley.
While you are secluded, all the Gold Coast’s attractions can easily be reached by car giving the best of both worlds: Coolangatta is about a 20 minute drive. Murwillumbah in NSW is only around 15 minutes away.
The hosts are friendly and extremely helpful. Although billed as “couples only” accommodation, infants may be able to be accommodated: contact the retreat for more information.
The perfect place for a romantic break in beautiful surroundings. You will need a car if you plan to stay here, of course, due to it’s location. The pricing is very reasonable, you can book for as little as one night and they have a few specials that offer even better value. Recommended.
Kallora Escape Bed & Breakfast is located on the Queensland/NSW border at 823 Tomewin Mountain Road in the Currumbin Valley. Telephone (07) 5533 0361.
