Longboards Restaurant & Bar is a relatively recent addition to Surfers Paradise, but has quickly become a favourite for locals and visitors alike. And if you like burgers, you will not want to miss out: in July 2014 it was voted into 5th place on Tripadvisor in a poll for the best burgers in Australia.
Food and Drink
Obviously, the burgers are good. There is an impressive range to choose from that includes a pulled pork burger and the mighty 1.8kg (we’re not kidding) Phat Burger. Of course there are plenty of other items on the menu you can have, including seafood and vegetarian options.
It’s actually quite a nice place to enjoy breakfast too, with a number of dishes around the $10 mark if you’re not up for a full brekkie. In general prices are pretty typical for Surfers, but keep an eye out for the specials and it can be a very reasonable deal price-wise.
There is a good selection of craft beers available which are sourced from around Australia and from overseas. There is also a good cocktail menu from which you can try more than 30 drinks: these range from the usual classics to some interesting creations.
With it’s poolside location, it is a good place for casual dining. As you might guess from the name it has a surf theme, with boards and action photography as decoration. The outside pool area is the real star of the show though.
There is usually some live music on Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as on Sunday afternoons. Nothing too loud or extreme, normally up-and-coming local solo artists or duos.
If you like burgers it’s a must-visit. Even if you don’t, the relaxed poolside vibe makes it a pleasant place to grab a bite to eat.
If you’re not hungry, the craft beers and the cocktails should keep you happy. All-in-all, a nice, laid back restaurant/bar/cafe with a central location. Open seven days a week.
Longboards Laidback Eatery is located on the corner of Hamilton Avenue & Northcliffe Terrace in Surfers Paradise, under the Q1 Building. Telephone (07) 5538 2559
