Platinum is without question one of the better quality nightclubs on the Gold Coast, and it’s affiliation with mega-brand Ministry of Sound means it’s possibly the biggest brand too.
It’s the place to go for a full-on-clubbing night out: it’s busy, loud and has a reasonably credible music policy.
While other clubs – in Surfers Paradise especially – churn out ultra commercial and cheesy tunes, the emphasis here is more on quality tracks from leading local and international DJs. Did we say that it’s LOUD?
If you take a look at some of the names that have played at Platinum, it will give you an idea of the venue’s calibre. They include John Acquaviva, Benny Benassi, Ferry Corsten, Carl Cox, Groove Terminator, Laidback Luke, Roger Sanchez, Pete Tong and Paul Van Dyke. Not bad indeed.
The club has a high-end audio system and lighting as you might expect, and is very nicely fitted out. Aside from the very busy Main Room, there is also the slightly less packed Green Room and a cosy lounge area. Saturday nights are the busiest.
It’s not the cheapest club on the Gold Coast: expect to pay $10 to $20 to get in (or more for a big name/event), and drinks will set you back a bit too. The crowd is mostly 18 to mid-twenties and out for a good night. If you have tattoos, we recommend that you cover them up before trying to get in.
You can reserve private booths for up to 20 people, and (between 9pm and 11.30pm) you can book the Pure Lounge area exclusively for your own group. Platinum Nightclub is located at 19 Victoria Avenue in Broadbeach. Telephone (07) 5592 4433.
