SkyPoint

SkyPoint at Q1 Resort - stunning views of the Gold CoastFor anyone who doesn’t have a fear of heights, we’d nominate a visit to the SkyPoint Observation Deck in Surfers Paradise as one of the true “must do” activities of your trip.

Located at 230 metres above sea level on the 77th and 78th floors of the landmark Q1 tower, SkyPoint offers absolutely stunning 360° views out over the Gold Coast, hinterland and beyond. Yes, you may get a good view from your hotel room or apartment, but we doubt it will be any bit as spectacular as this.

Your visit begins with a lightning-fast elevator journey that takes you – very smoothly – up to the observation deck in under a minute. Once you arrive, it’s time to take in the views. And there is no sense of rush – take your time to soak it all in. There are some exhibits to give you a little background on SkyPoint, and a film entitled “Birth of Paradise” in the theatrette.

Skypoint cafe and bar at Q1 Surfers Paradise

Enjoy a bite to eat with the amazing views

Cafe and Bar
There is a cafe too, where breakfast is served between 7:30am – 10am seven days a week. After 11am the All-Day Dining menu takes effect, so you can get a coffee and a cake as you take in the views, or enjoy a meal with a beer or glass of wine as you look out over the ocean.

SkyPoint Nights
If you are 18 or over, you may be interested in SkyPoint Nights: think music, cocktails and, of course, some breath-taking nighttime views of the city lights. Be advised dress code is “smart” and ID is required.

The SkyPoint Climb at Q1 in Surfers Paradise

Are you brave enough to try the SkyPoint Climb?

SkyPoint Climb
If you are feeling particularly brave, you may want to consider doing the SkyPoint Climb. This is the highest external building climb in Australia, and after a full safety briefing you will be issued with a Climb Suit and full body harness. Now it’s time to begin your climb to the summit! While the climb is not particularly physically demanding, there are some restrictions you can read about here.

Best Time to Visit
This is a difficult one. Sunset is a favourite for many, and it certainly is impressive. And while you you will see “more” during daylight hours on a clear day, the view is also something special at night when lights stretch out along the coast. And funnily enough, if you are experiencing bad weather in Surfers Paradise, the observation deck is actually a fantastic place to watch the storm develop!
