Being part of what can be considered the coolest hotel in Surfers Paradise (QT), you might expect Stingray Lounge to be similarly trendy. You would be right.
But just like QT, Stingray Lounge manages to be cool without being obnoxious or annoying: in fact, it is a highly enjoyable bar to visit.
The vibe is a mix of Californian colour, designer styling, retro and a bit of industrial thrown in too. It’s nicely laid out and quite spacious, unless you are here at the weekend when it gets packed.
Food and Drink
The menu is pretty extensive, with starters, salads, tacos, burgers, pizza and so on. There aren’t many options for vegetarians, which is a bit disappointing, but if you are a meat eater you will approve: the food is very nice.
It’s pretty fairly priced too with mains at under $30, and there are a number of specials held during the week like Taco Tuesdays and the $10 lunch menu.
The drinks menu is also very good, with almost 20 local and imported beers plus a good range of (affordable) wine. There is a decent selection of cocktails, and if you like tequila you will be in your element: this place has a gazillion different types. ¡Salud!
DJs play a tasteful mix of latin, dance and popular music: it’s pleasant and enjoyable without being boring or too generic, and suits the surroundings well.
Dress code is “Dress to Impress”: think evening wear for men and tattoos will need to be covered. Don’t even think of wearing ripped jeans, a Tap-Out singlet or thongs. You may find the dress code slightly more relaxed during the week, but we advise to dress up anyway.
Open from midday until midnight every day. Stingray Lounge is located at 7 Staghorn Avenue in Surfers Paradise. Telephone (07) 5584 1200
