Also known as The Surfers Paradise Tavern, the Beergarden isn’t actually a beergarden at all.
It is one of the most popular bars in town though, and features lots of live music and DJs for your entertainment. It was refurbished back in 2009, when a new improved sound system and lighting were installed.
While it is very popular, it doesn’t always get too packed and is a good choice for enjoying a drink and some music. It’s a pretty laid back kind of place where you don’t have to worry too much about dressing up if you don’t feel like it.
There tend to be a lot of cheap drink specials, which in turn attracts a backpacker and uni student crowd. Although there is a lot of drinking going on, the atmosphere is generally enjoyable and quite friendly.
There is live music on Friday and Saturday nights until around 5am, Sunday Sessions features “Urban” DJs and there are themed evenings during the week including Uni & Backpacker Tuesdays and Twisted on Thursday, which has live punk, alternate and metal bands playing live.
It’s also a good place to catch events like the UFC on the big screen.
There are six pool tables, and on Mondays there is usually a pool competition going on.
With it’s fun atmosphere, it’s a good place to enjoy some live music or DJs and cheap drinks. It’s a good option if you don’t want to go clubbing. The crowd is pretty young, older visitors may prefer The Avenue: don’t be afraid to give it a try first, though.
